Project Focus
The project spanned for two years from Nov., 2002 to Nov., 2004 with four phases. The main objective of the project was on the standardization and implementation of raw materials identification coding, classification and attributes in the Apparels and Textiles industry through the alignment of raw material suppliers and garment manufacturers to adopt an open and common business language with the aids of advanced technology.

During the two years, GS1 Hong Kong developed a set of coding and classification standards for the following chosen raw materials* used in the Apparels & Textiles Industry:

  • Button
  • Interlining
  • Knitted fabric
  • Label & Tag
  • Thread
  • Woven fabric
  • Yarn

* The aforesaid raw materials were chosen by the Project Team Committee members.
